Nestled in a valley on the beautiful Central Coast of California, Camp Challenge has provided a safe and relaxing camp experience for young people since 1950. Generations of campers return every summer because at Camp Challenge they've had fun, made friends, and seen the Bible lived out.

Camp Challenge offers terrific staff to lead and guide each camper, a safe environment where fun is found in playing hard and making memories -- not to mention tasty food kids love! The pool, field, and surrounding mountains bordered by a child-friendly creek provide a relaxed setting where campers truly enjoy a week away from home making new friends, participating in exciting games and events, and being instructed from the Bible.

If you're up for an adventure, open to making new friends, interested in growing in your knowledge of Christian truth, and just like being around a bunch of smiling, happy people -- then Camp Challenge is for you!

Doctrinal Statment

We stand for and emphasize the foundation truths held in common by evangelical Christians: our basis of fellowship being a oneness of heart and mind in all things of the Lord, and adherence to the historic Christian faith expressed as follows:

  1. The Bible, which is verbally inspired by the Holy Spirit and inerrant in the original manuscripts and is the infallible and authoritative Word of God.

  2. The Triune Godhead in Three Persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

  3. The personality of Satan, called the devil, and his present control over unregenerate mankind.

  4. The fall and lost estate of man, whose total depravity makes necessary the new birth.

  5. The deity of Jesus Christ, His virgin birth, sinless life, death, bodily resurrection, present exaltation at God’s right hand, and personal and imminent return.

  6. The atonement by the substitutionary death and shed blood of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior.

  7. The resurrection of the saved unto everlasting life and blessedness in Heaven, and the resurrection of the unsaved unto everlasting punishment in Hell.

  8. The Church, the Body or Bride of Christ, consisting only of those who are born again, for whom He now makes intercession in Heaven and for whom He shall come again.

  9. Christ’s commission to the Church to go into all the world and preach the Gospel to every creature.

Director - Dean Dilger

The director of Camp Challenge is just that; a director. From administration and logistics, to staffing and public relations, the director has a hand in every part of the Camp Challenge program. Our director spends the entire year working to ensure that the campers have an awesome week that they'll never forget, be instructed in God's word, and leave the camp spiritually refreshed and ready to reflect the light of Christ as His disciples! Dean holds a B.S. in Religion, a M.A. in Theological Studies, and is currently studying for his M.Div. in Biblical Studies, in addition to entering the Central Coast mission field as an Area Missionary.

Camp Challenge is the way I reach locally through all of the amazing things the local body of believers can do in God’s power. My personal funding through InFaith makes it possible for me to serve as the Camp Director here on the Central Coast. Click here to learn more about my ministry or give to my personal support.

Bible Teacher - Wayne Lidbeck

The Bible teacher has arguably the most important job at camp, without which our program would lack the substance and depth of faith that comes through thoughtful study of God's word. Drawing on over four decades of ministry experience as a pastor and missionary, Mr. Lidbeck takes God's word seriously, demonstrates biblical values in his personal life, and has a gift for teaching that grasps the attention of listeners old and young alike. Fulfilling the role of director at Camp Challenge all of his professional life, we are thankful and blessed to have Mr. Lidbeck join us for the 2019 camp season in another important role: Bible teacher!
